Case Study: Law Institute of Victoria In-House Events

We recently partnered with the Law Institute of Victoria (LIV) once again, this time to help them out with a busy start to their year as they host several in-house events.

LIV is a non-profit membership organisation representing more than 19,000 lawyers and people working in the law in Victoria, interstate and overseas. Across February and March, they are running no less than seven half- and full-day conferences for their members.

The brief

Each conference was to be a hybrid event held at LIV’s own event space, with a mix of in-person and virtual attendees. This was their first time hosting these conferences in-house, and our team’s role was to film and livestream the events to a professional production quality, along with monitoring the broadcast to resolve any glitches or issues that may occur.

All speakers would be present, however we included an add-on option for equipment in case a speaker would need to present virtually at the last minute, to ensure all bases were covered.

In-house events with maximum impact

For each conference, there will be two technical operators on site, operating our PTZ cameras and managing the livestream. Our PTZ (Pan, Tilt, Zoom) cameras are compact, non-intrusive cameras that can be operated remotely, to provide wide-area coverage and also zoom into details with amazing quality. This ensured we could cover multiple angles for the livestream, with just two cameras and two operators.

Of course, it’s not just about the tech – a lot of pre-planning goes into events like these to make sure they run as smoothly as possible on the day!

In the lead up to the event, our preparation included:

  • Client and production crew meetings
  • Setting up the platform and running internal tests on the broadcast workflow
  • Project managing production deliverables
  • Liaising with venues ensuring all AV is available for a successful stream
  • Adding supplied holding slides and the brand graphics to the streaming software
  • A bump-in the day prior to make sure everything is ready to go once the event kicks off

Behind the scenes!

With only a few conferences left, we’re happy to say the events are progressing well and we’ve had some fantastic feedback on the quality of the video and audio – these are some of the comments from attendees:

“My experience has been terrific. I like the way the camera pans to the person asking a question in the audience. Thank you to all involved in putting together another fabulous conference.”
“The camera and audio work enhances the conference experience as compared to other conferences I’ve attended. Thanks to all!”
