While a great venue, catering, entertainment and presentations are all important for a successful conference, what really makes it memorable is the interactions between people.
Connective recently held their 2026 Staff Conference and Awards Night across Zinc Fed Square and the Plaza Ballroom, bringing their team together for a full day of presentations, networking, recognition and celebration – and they turned to us to capture the people and energy of this large-scale event.
Let’s take a look at how it all came together.
The brief
Our event photography needed to feel professional, energetic, and authentic to Connective's culture, while also capturing the full experience of the conference and awards night.
This meant coverage that ranged from branding, registrations, and speakers to candid interactions and entertainment. We also wanted the final library to give our client flexibility in how they used the photos, so we created a balance of candid and natural moments, posed shots, wide environmental angles, and detail shots of the branding and venue.
Photography style + tone
The focus was on creating photography that felt natural, energetic, and people-focused, rather than overly staged.
We did this by:
- Capturing genuine interactions between colleagues
- Using the venues to provide strong environmental context
- Photographing speakers and presentations from a range of perspectives
- Highlighting the scale and atmosphere of the conference
- Integrating branding, sponsors and event details in a natural way
A combination of wide, mid-range and close-up imagery ensured the final gallery had plenty of variety and could be used across different channels.
For the awards night in particular, photography shifted towards a more celebratory and premium feel to reflect the excitement and energy of the evening.
On the day
Photography coverage began ahead of the main conference to capture the venue, room styling, branding and event details before guests arrived.
With two camera bodies and a selection of lenses, our photographer could discreetly move between wide environmental shots and more intimate candid moments, while adapting to the changing pace and lighting conditions throughout the day.
The results
We carefully selected and edited the strongest images to create a cohesive gallery that balanced polished event photography with authentic, candid moments.
To keep the content moving quickly after the event, 20 key images were delivered by 11am the following business day, giving Connective an immediate selection of fresh photography to share. The full gallery followed within 2–3 business days, with images supplied in both web-ready and high-resolution formats.
The final collection gives Connective a versatile library of imagery that's ready to be used across social media, internal comms, and future event promotion.
