Case Study: 2025 Victorian Training Awards Videos & Photography

Each year, the Victorian Training Awards (VTA) shines a spotlight on the hardworking students, apprentices, trainees, teachers and organisations who contribute to Victoria's TAFE and training sector.

We were thrilled to once again be part of this year’s celebration, tasked with filming and photographing the 47 inspiring finalists in the lead-up to the gala awards night.

With multiple shoots, tight deadlines, and plenty of moving parts, this project called for a balance of creativity and organisation. Here’s how our team brought their work to life.

Part 1 – Project Management

Due to the scale of the project, with finalists located across metro and regional Victoria, we allocated two of our superstar project coordinators to oversee the entire operation, ensuring it ran smoothly and also met budget and timelines.

Our project management service included developing a production brief with a shot list for our videographers, scheduling the finalists’ filming and photography shoots, and managing the content review and editing process.

We used the Monday.com platform to manage the logistics, and our client was easily able to access progress reporting to see what stage the project was up to.

Part 2 – Videography & Photography

We sent out four videographers and two photographers to capture the necessary photography and footage, organising multiple sessions in one day when finalists were located near each other.

We recorded both interview and b-roll footage for the finalist and winner videos, while for photography we focused on candid and portrait shots, including group shots when the nominee was part of a larger team.

While there was a lot of work to do, we like to have a good time along the way so everyone enjoys themselves and can relax in front of the camera. Of course not everything goes to plan the first time round – you can check out a few bloopers during filming in our blooper reel below:

Part 3 – Editing & Final Videos

The project culminated in a suite of 14 finalist videos, 14 winner profile videos, and a full collection of high-resolution photography.

Each finalist video featured two to three nominees, offering a short but comprehensive glimpse into their stories and skills. We then repurposed the existing footage to create polished winner videos, with editing including colour correction and adding professional voiceovers and captions.

By the time the Gala awards night arrived, the client had a complete library of ready-to-air videos and imagery that authentically celebrated every finalist and winner.
