The Victorian Academy of Teaching & Leadership was established in 2021, to take Victoria’s highly skilled teachers and school leaders from great to exceptional. Throughout that period, they had yet to create a piece of video storytelling that showcased their mission and their programs. That’s where we come in!
The brief
The Academy wanted a promotional video that could achieve three things: raise awareness of the Academy’s purpose, promote its programs, and highlight its reach across both metropolitan and regional areas.
It needed to be a compelling and versatile storytelling piece that demonstrated the Academy’s impact on the education sector. It also had to be suitable for sharing across digital channels, live events, and internal platforms.
A creative collaboration
We collaborated with the client from the very beginning of the project, holding a creative workshop with them onsite to brainstorm ideas and help shape the video’s narrative.
The resulting concept was “Lifting the Profession” – a 4-5 minute brand video that would use a documentary-style format to explore the Academy’s mission, its programs, and the people it supports.
The final video would feature interviews with facilitators and participants, along with b-roll filmed at selected schools and Academy locations.
In addition to the main brand video, we would also produce three shorter repurposed clips, each focusing on one of the Academy’s key divisions: regional, teaching, and leadership. These were to be designed for flexible use across social media and internal communication channels.
All hands on deck
As the project had a tight turnaround, we brought together all our available resources and had a 6-person production team on hand. Filming was spread amongst three Academy locations – two metro and one regional – along with two schools.
Our comprehensive services also included interview question preparation and location coordination and scheduling.

The final edits
Once filming wrapped up, it was time for post-production. This is where we edited all interviews and b-roll footage into the agreed deliverables, which included colour grading, motion graphics and music licensing.
After two to three rounds of review with the client to refine it until it was just right, we delivered the final videos to our happy client.
